I Was Lost

'I Was Lost' was the first song I had written or crafted after being born again.  Calling out to the Lord on December 14, 1973, he saved me.  I didn’t understand everything then, and I didn’t understand why, but I knew I was saved (Romans 10:13).

Confessing my sin and sinfulness, I called upon the Lord Jesus and his name, believing in my heart that he came, died and rose again for my salvation.  Asking forgiveness for all the wrongs and sins I had done, I knew I would change, and I knew something happened.  Everything was different and there was this great concern for others to have this too.

In 1974, shortly after being born again and playing my guitar, I sang this song from my heart.  I have the original lyrics as I thought it best to write them down.  The song has been used in church and prison ministry where a number of people have been saved.
